Our Story

A bookstore built for Utah stories.

We believe every Utah voice deserves a shelf — and every Utah reader deserves to find them.

Founder & Curator

Hey, I'm Quaelii.

I started The Local Readery because I kept noticing a gap — Utah has an incredible community of writers, but most books I recommended were unrecognized by my reader friends, even if it was their favorite genre. I wanted to change that.

The Local Readery is a pop-up indie bookstore rooted in our community and focused on titles entirely from Utah authors. We seek opportunities to build the reading and writing community in Utah by bringing high-quality local books to events from Park City to Farmington and down to Provo.

The vision of The Local Readery is to become a one-stop shop for Utah books, writing-event information, and community — whether you’re a reader, a writer, or both.

“Connecting books to readers. And writers to the community.”

We're still in the early days, and we're keeping it local, intentional, and community-first. If you're a reader looking for your next favorite Utah author, or a writer looking to get your book in front of Utah readers, you're in the right place.

Quaelii is a creative writer, avid adventurer, and a collector of hobbies. Though she struggled with reading as a child, it has become a rediscovered passion since graduating from college. When she's not working, you can find her scuba diving, traveling, or learning something new. At the end of the day, she can't wait to curl up with a good book at her home in Salt Lake City.

What We Stand For

Local, intentional, community-first.

Local

Every book we carry is written by a Utah author. We're committed to supporting those in our writing community. Whether you were born in Utah, raised in the Wasatch, or rooted here later, we're excited to support you.

Intentional

We hand-pick every title. No algorithms. Just a real person who loves great books and knows Utah stories. Looking to add your story? Submit a query here.

Community First

We pop up where the community gathers: markets, festivals, and events across the Wasatch. We're here to connect readers and writers, friends and neighbors, especially the introverts. We see you!
